The adult team at C+K work across a number of contracts supporting young people and adults.

Employment Kirklees

Funded by UK Government logo

The Employment Kirklees programme is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and West Yorkshire Combined Authority through Gainshare funds. C+K deliver to 16–24-year-old participants in partnership with Kirklees Council. Both unemployed and employed young people can access support to find work and/or to improve their labour market status.

Employment Kirklees offers support to:

  • explore your career options
  • create or develop your CV
  • job search and make applications
  • prepare for interview
  • access training opportunities to gain new skills and/or qualifications
  • build your confidence and learn how to sell yourself
  • break down barriers to employment.

Calderdale Employment Hub

Calderdale Employment Hub is a West Yorkshire Combined Authority Gainshare funded programme, C+K deliver to young people 16+ in partnership with Calderdale Council. Unemployed residents can access support to find work or an apprenticeship.

The team can help you with:

  • exploring your career options
  • understanding and talking confidently about your skills and knowledge to employers
  • creating a CV and filling in job applications
  • preparing for interviews, trials, and the work environment
  • finding work experience opportunities
  • discovering new jobs being advertised in the local area.

National Careers Service

Operating as a subcontractor for the Education Development Trust, C+K offer the National Careers Service to all adult customers. We provide expert career advice and guidance to more than 770 Kirklees and Calderdale residents annually via telephone or face to face appointments.

We help individuals recognise their potential and empower them to utilise their skills and strengths, improving their employability and potential career opportunities.

Our person centred approach encourages individuals to achieve positive work and learning outcomes by working with their adviser to achieve comprehensive career management goals.

Pathways to Progress

Pathways to Progress is Education Development Trust’s new pre-employment programme which provides essential support to workless households in the West Yorkshire Combined Authority area. These households could be facing multiple barriers to progression, including those related to health and wellbeing, skills, work experience, and confidence. Our Key Workers offer personalised guidance and advice on health and wellbeing, confidence, resilience, financial support, community connections, skills development, and workplace readiness. Working in collaboration with a range of local partners, including C+K Careers, our programme aims to assist 1,000 participants in achieving positive and sustainable change. The programme is delivered on behalf of West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

Youth Hub

The Youth Hub is a DWP funded programme to support South Kirklees young people aged 16-25 who are claiming benefits, move closer to the labour market, undertake training, or find work.

Participants receive 1:1 mentoring support to identify barriers, set realistic goals and improve their confidence. Practical help with CV’s, application forms and interview prep are provided. Referrals to other support services are made as required.

 Adult Community Learning

C+K provide Matrix accredited Careers Information, Advice and Guidance to those enrolled on Kirklees and Calderdale Adult Learning courses, in community venues across the region. Supporting those reaching the end of their courses to make decisions about their future career progression. Following group delivery, individuals are offered the opportunity for a 1:1 appointment to discuss their specific needs. For more information speak to your course tutor.
