C+K Get Inspired Events 2024

Nearly 2000 young people and their parents and carers attended the recent C+K Get Inspired Events. Here we take a closer look at these popular events.

The C+K Get Inspired Events are well-established annual careers events, aimed at Year 11 students from the Calderdale and Kirklees areas. Once again, the events proved very popular in 2024 attracting nearly 2000 visitors! We’ve had some great feedback from students, parents and exhibitors, and as a result of the events, Year 11s across Calderdale and Kirklees are now more prepared to make decisions about their future.

“Excellent – so helpful – thank you”

Student feedback

These popular post-16 options events give Year 11 students the opportunity to:
• find out about the different options available to them after Year 11
• chat to employers, training providers, school sixth forms, colleges and universities
• get information on apprenticeships
• get advice from our C+K careers advisers.

"This was a very informative event"

Parent feedback

The events also enable businesses and educational institutions to connect with hundreds of young people under one roof, providing the opportunity to:

• talk to young people at a key stage in their career decision-making journey
• promote their opportunities and inspire the next generation
• fulfil their Corporate Social Responsiblity (CSR) and support the region's young people
• meet parents and carers, the key influencers in young people's career decisions
• showcase their organisation and publicise their events and open days.

This year we held three events: the first in North Kirklees at Dewsbury Town Hall on 1 October sponsored by Kirklees College and the University of Bradford; the second in Kirklees at The John Smith’s Stadium on 3 October sponsored by Calderdale College, Kirklees College, Greenhead College, the Creative & Media Studio School and the University of Bradford; the final event took place in Calderdale at The Shay Stadium on 10 October, sponsored by Calderdale College and the University of Bradford.

There was a great atmosphere across all three events, with a range of exhibitors attending including colleges, employers, universities, training providers, sixth forms and advisory services.

“Busy, well organised, good range of providers”

Exhibitor feedback

C+K careers advisers also attended the events, ensuring that young people had access to independent and impartial careers information, advice and guidance about post-16 options, helping students to making informed decisions about their future.

We hold other career events throughout the year and are currently planning the C+K Apprenticeship Events taking place in February and March 2025. If you are interested in exhibiting at one of our events and would like to find out more, please contact the events team via events@ckcareers.org.uk
