C+K celebrates success with their first virtual careers fair - Get Inspired
2020 has seen many changes for the company with us embracing more of the digital world, including our new Chat service, careers advisers delivering via platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams and our first virtual careers event.
The event was a huge success and we received great feedback from young people and exhibitors. Over 720 young people from across Kirklees logged into the event, browsed the information, chatted to the exhibitors and as a result are now more prepared to make decisions about their future.
Traditionally, the Get Inspired event has been a large-scale face to face careers event with students visiting stands to talk to exhibitors about their opportunities. Due to the pandemic this year the event went virtual and was held on a bespoke events platform which we aimed to make as similar to a ‘real life’ event as possible.
Young people from across Kirklees were invited to log on to the event, along with their parents and carers to discover the options available to them when they leave school next year.
40 exhibitors ranging from colleges to employers, universities to training providers, and sixth forms to advisory services had virtual stands. Exhibitors had space on the platform to upload documents, videos and information about their opportunities, not dissimilar to displaying prospectuses and handouts. Attendees could also chat to the exhibitors about their organisation and ask them questions about their opportunities.
Talks were live streamed through the platform for attendees to watch, these included information about post 16 options and different organisations. They proved extremely popular with some being watched by 200 people, attendees also took advantage of the question and answer function during the talks.
Attendees commented on how useful the event was
"It was very informative and cleared up a lot of confusion.
Thank you to all the organisers of the event it is very much appreciated."
"Very good , the online chat was great and answered a lot of questions with people who have done the roles previously."
